Beach attire for men
With holiday season upon us, the time has (finally) come to start packing those cases. This year is all about sun and sand. Which also happens to be the theme of our event, Un Air d’Eté (Summer’s in the Air). These tips should come in handy when choosing your swim shorts and sunglasses, while perfecting the art of day to night dressing.
Getting it right
You’ve packed plenty of bags in your time. But this year, you're intent on saving space in your luggage for some souvenirs. Which means that when it comes to packing, compromises will have to be made.
Rule number 1: don’t over pack. Forget packing anything ‘just in case’ (which we promise still won’t have been worn by the end of the summer). Rule number 2: opt for pieces you can mix and match. Basically, you want a minimalist capsule wardrobe (of sorts).
Keep it casual
Your holiday itinerary has been mapped out already, starting with a morning stroll around the market. For this, you can team swim shorts with a short sleeve shirt and a pair of thick soled sandals. After lunch, grab your sun protection (sunglasses and sun cream), a cap (or a bucket hat) and a few other essentials (including a towel, a parasol and something to read). And head for the beach.
Then when the sun goes down, swap your beachwear for something smarter, but every bit as comfortable. Think lightweight trousers, a flocked T-shirt and a sweatshirt draped over your shoulders. That sea spray can surprise you on the coast.
It’s good news on the trend front, with something for everyone this year. Trunks are short, patterned (graphic, floral, striped), vibrant (yellow, orange, blue) or more classic in colour (grey, sky blue). The hardest part will be deciding on just one pair.
From the sand to the streets, these menswear labels are made for the summer months
With respect to swimwear, you can take your pick from Apnée's colourful collections. Established in 2017, the menswear brand has been seen all over our beaches ever since. The brand creates sustainable clothing using plastic waste collected from the Mediterranean Sea. In fact, the same part of the world — Corsica, specifically — was the inspiration for its spring-summer 2022 collection. Expect bright colours and graphic prints to make up your summer uniform.
